Evidence from the Clod Research Centre (funded for 20 years, now defunct)
was that steam inhalation was the only useful thing...
Does this mean that EBM is just a pan of hot water?

Subject: Cough linctus
Sitting here cos I can't stop coughing (4 am) leads me to thoughts on
cough linctus.
I recall being taught they are all *useless* but have been known to
issue a script almost as a placebo in difficult *you don't need
antibiotics* consultations.
What is the evidence that they don't work?
And what is it exactly they don't do?
All I want, and I suspect this is the desire of most people who buy
them, is to stop this irritating cough enough to get some sleep.
(and I do like the taste of simple linctus)
