Hello all:
In preparation for a possible move to London, England due to matrimonial
reasons, I would like to find out more about the GIS job market in the
Metro London area. I've already searched the past two years' archives of
the gis-uk and gis-jobs mailing lists as well as the listings at the
geojobsource website.
I'm wondering if there are other sources (either on-line or not) to
investigate:
-- mailing lists
-- websites
-- organizations and newsletters (e.g., here in the SF Bay Area, the Bay
Area Automated Mapping Association holds regular meetings and has its
own website. Is there a similar organization for the Metro London area?
In addition, while one can get some sense of the demand side of the market
from such sources, there's rather minimal indication as to what the supply
side is like. Is there a general sense whether UK schools are graduating
far more GIS degree holders and MSc's than there are jobs available?
Any info that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
