The Department of Geography at University College Chester is
seeking to appoint a LECTURER IN HUMAN/ECONOMIC
GEOGRAPHY. The post is tenable from January 1999 or as soon
thereafter as possible. In line with current College policy the post
is offered on a two year, fixed term contract in the first instance.
A wide range of specialisms can be accommodated especially if
they relate to the teaching and research potential of the Chester
area (eg. urban, retailing, financial services, tourism). General IT
and data acquisition and handling skills are expected and
experience/training in the social and environmental applications of
GIS would be welcome.
Teaching duties involve contributions to existing Human Geography
modules in years 1 to 3 of the undergraduate programme and
responsibility for the development, teaching and administration of
two new human/economic geography modules; one for each of
years 2 and 3, plus supervision of undergraduate dissertations.
There are opportunities to undertake personal research in the local
area and beyond and the Department is well equipped with IT
facilities, GIS and Remote Sensing software.
Salary within the range £14,148 - £23,585 depending on
qualifications and experience.
