GIS OFFICERS
LONDON BOROUGH OF HACKNEY
ESTATE MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT.
Post 1: GIS Officer (Estate Management and Development applications)
Post 2: GIS Officer (Corporate applications)
Career grade: S01 £20346 - £21534
The London Borough of Hackney is fast becoming recognised as a best
practice centre for local government geographical information systems and
spatial analysis. Established GIS solutions for estate management,
targeting future community regeneration, identifying problem areas of
deprivation and social exclusion, and analysis of patterns of crime and
disorder have whetted the appetite, resulting in the demand for GIS service
delivery expansion.
Established in the Estate Management and Development service area, two
posts have been created to allow Hackney to develop upon its strong GIS
foundation and harness the next generation of GIS techniques. Areas of GIS
expansion will be both varied and challenging as the borough begins to
explore new applications and new technology. Working in a small team and
reporting to the Corporate GIS Manager, each postholder will be encouraged
to use their expertise in GIS to drive the development and delivery of
applications and analysis. Duties will also include delivering GI on
request and supporting Hackney's new GIS training agenda.
You will have a degree (preferably postgraduate qualification) in GIS or
related discipline, experience with PC GIS software, and a demonstrable
understanding of Local Government GIS applications. Experience of GIS
internet technology, database design and programming languages (Visual
Basic, C++, Delphi) would be advantageous. Excellent communication skills
are essential, as will the ability to work effectively in a team.
