Dear interested petrologists,
A new version of program Gibbs is available for download on my www site.
The new version has several new features, which are detailed on the www
site.
One new feature is the calculation and plotting of AFM diagrams based on
internally consistent thermodynmaic data and the petrogenetic grid derived
therefrom, as demonstrated at the recent GSA meeting in Toronto (Spear and
Cheney, 1998, Real-time AFM diagrams on your Macintosh).
These programs can be obtained from the www site at
http://www.geo.rpi.edu/facstaff/spear/Gibbs_Prog/Gibbs_prog.html
or by direct ftp from
ftp://www.geo.rpi.edu/pub/spear_ftp/
(I have already had a report of a difficulty downloading the program using
Microsoft Internet Explorer but it seems to work fine using Netscape (go
figure) - please let me know if you experience difficulities and I'll see
what I can do)
There is also an updated version of the Thermobarometry program (Program
GTB) which fixes some reported bugs, which can be obtained from the web
site or the ftp site.
Please let me know if you encounter any problems downloading these files as
I am trying a new ftp server.
Happy computing,
Frank
