All - I am leader of a research group here at U Calgary that has received
funds to purchase a new electron microprobe ('superprobe') in the next year
or so. The main competitors are the Cameca SX-100 and JEOL 8900.
I would be grateful to receive any comments, small or large, positive or
negative, technical or untechnical, hardware- or software-related, from
either experienced probe operators or one-time users, on these instruments
and their company's service record. Both seem to be excellent instruments,
so it may come down to technical details, service and price.
I will collate the responses and post them for the general interest of the
community. However, I also welcome responses in private that the sender
may not wish to be posted.
Apologies to those of you who get multiple copies of this email by virtue
of being on several lists.
