Dear all:
I work in ethnographic research in the French CNRS. Exceptionnally, I am
adressing myself to you on a subject that is not ethnography. As a
Chilean exile living in France, I want to ask you to help us, by
supporting the UK'government in its action against the Chilean
ex-dictator Pinochet.

All of us, Chileans, we have friends and near relatives that were
arbitrarily imprisoned, tortured, killed or made "disappear" under
Pinochet's dictatorship. We are only asking for justice. After all this
terrible years, people in our country are so afraid that even now, that
Pinochet is (half) retired, they don't dare asking for it themselves.

How can you help us? (1) By writing (faxing) to the British Government
and the House of Commons and making them know you agree and support the
action they are carrying on against Pinochet and that they should not
permit him to leave the UK. Crimes against humanity and genocide are
inprescriptible, they cannot benefit of any sort of amnisty.

. Adresses:
 a) U.K. Government:
Secretary of State for Home Affairs The Rt Hon Jack Straw, MP
 Home Office 50, Queen Anne's Gate, London SW1H 9AT
 Fax: 44 171 273 3965

 - Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs The Rt Hon
 Robin Cook, MP
Foreign and Commonwealth Office Downing Street London SW1A 2AL
 Fax: 44 171 270 3539

 - Cabinet Office The Rt Hon Dr Jack Cunningham, MP Downing Street London
 SW1A 2AL
 Fax: 44 171 270 0196

 b) members of the House of Commons:

 - Chair of Parliamentary Human Rights Group Rt Hon Ann Clwyd, MP House
 of Commons London SW1A OAA Fax: 44 171 219 5943

 - Chair of Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs Rt Hon
 Donald Anderson, MP
House of Commons London SW1A OAA

 - Rt Hon Jeremy Corbyn, MP House of Commons London SW1A OAA Fax: 44 171
 219 2328

(2) You can also write to your MP's and to the major newspapers, the
Guardian, The Times, The Daily Telegraph and join radio 'chat shows' to
express your position against Pinochet.

All this must be done very quickly because the British govenment can
decide about Pinochet from next Thursday.

So please do something now! We count on every one's solidarity. Thanking
you for all of us
Ana Vasquez
