Dear list member,
Mailbase recommends that the list owner(s) occasionally send reminders
to members about the workings and protocol associated with their lists.
This is the econometric-research version.
Web Page: http://www.mailbase.ac.uk/lists/econometric-research/
--------
The first item to note is that all mailbase lists have their own web page.
This contains links to list details, Files added by
the list owner, message archives and instructions of how to leave and
join the list. The message archives and Files added... are searchable.
All the above are open to non-members at present. The only
restriction on econometric-research is that only list members may email
the list.
Membership details can only be obtained via email, and are only
available to list members. This change was introduced as an anti-spam measure.
The mailbase web page also points to the UK Econometric Study Group
web page which holds details on the annual conference, occasional study
group seminars and workshops, and some further links.
Guidelines
----------
Please remember the guidelines if you are posting to econometric-research:-
Include a keyword in your subject line.
Include your e-mail address in the body of your message.
When replying to a message, you should reply to the sender and
not to the list.
If you receive a batch of replies, please post a summary to the list.
These summaries will be saved with the "Files added by the listowner".
All messages should be plain ascii text. No attachments, No encoding.
No commercial adverts.
If you are unsure about what constitutes a commercial,
send the message to the list owner, who will forward
it if it is suitable.
Holidays/Sabbaticals
To avoid your mailbox filling up while you are away, you should
temporarily suspend your mail. Do this by sending a message
to
[log in to unmask]
with the command
suspend mail econometric-research
On your return, you can resume mail by sending the command
resume mail economteric-research
to the same address.
Remember that you can use the archives to catch up on any messages
you may have missed.
How the List Owner Identifies Bad E-mail Addresses.
--------------------------------------------------
I operate the following procedure. If I receive 3 email
failures from an address, I register it as dodgy. If I still get failures
a fortnight later, I remove the offending address.
This appears to work reasonably well for the amount of traffic we receive
on this list.
Occasional mistakes do occur. If you do get a message saying you have been
removed from the list, you can simply re-join.
