We have a number of students on our occupational therapy undegraduate course
with dyslexia.
There are guidelines available for helping them overcome the affects of
their disability on the academic aspects of the course.
However up to a third of the course is spent in the workplace where there is
a requirement for them to demonstrate competency in all aspects of
professional practice.
This includes report writing, reading patient's notes and other areas where
people with dyslexia are likely to encounter extra difficulties.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who has experience writing
guidelines or helping workbased educators facilitate learning for students
who have disabilities.
Thanks
