Papers in all areas related to combinatorial pattern matching and its
applications will be considered, including, but not limited to, string
processing, applications in molecular biology, text searching,
information retrieval, data mining, symbolic computing, natural
language processing, coding and data compression. Both papers reporting
on original research unpublished elsewhere and surveys of important results
are welcome. Proceedings will be published in the Springer-Verlag series,
Lecture Notes in Computer Science.
Abstract format
Authors should submit an extended abstract (not a full paper). An abstract
should start with the title of the paper, each author's name, affiliation,
and e-mail address, followed by a one-paragraph summary of the results
to be presented. This should then be followed by a technical exposition
of the main ideas and techniques used to achieve these results, including
motivation and a clear comparison with related work. The abstract should
not exceed 10 pages on A4 (or US letter) paper, using reasonable margins
and at least 11-point font. If the authors believe that more details are
essential to substantiate the main claims of the paper, they may include
a clearly marked appendix that will be read at the discretion of the programme
committee. Abstracts deviating significantly from these guidelines risk
immediate rejection.
Submission procedure
Authors are encouraged to submit their extended abstracts electronically.
See http://sigact.csci.unt.edu/~cpm99/CPM99.html for a detailed description
of this process. The extended abstract (by electronic submission) must be
received by 23:59 pm GMT on 5 February, 1999. This is a firm deadline;
late submissions will be rejected. Simultaneous submissions of the same
abstract to another conference with a published proceedings are not allowed.
Authors who do not wish to submit electronically are invited to submit
hard copies by the following procedure: (a) first send electronic mail
to the CPM programme chairs ([log in to unmask]) by 23:59 pm GMT on
29 January, 1999, stating the intention of submitting hard copies; (b) send
15 copies (printed double-sided if possible) of the extended abstract and
a cover letter to the CPM programme chairs (address below) received before
23:59 pm GMT 5 February, 1999 or postmarked by 29 January and sent via
express mail. (c) Authors from locations where access to reproduction
facilities is severely limited may ask for permission to submit a
single copy by sending electronic mail to the programme chairs before
23:59 pm GMT 29 January, 1999. Submissions should be sent to: CPM 99,
Department of Computer Science, University of Warwick, Coventry CV4
7AL, UK; e-mail address: [log in to unmask]
Notification
Authors will be sent notification of acceptance or rejection by email
on or before 2 April, 1999, and by letter shortly thereafter. A camera-ready
copy of each accepted paper must be received by 30 April, 1999, which
is a firm deadline.
