Paley's Reasons for Contentment is the sermon, later published as a
pamphlet, you are looking for. There are also significant passages in his
Principles of Moral and Political Philosophy (1785)
A caveat? Paley cannot be written off as a reactionary. His point is
not, as most take it to be, that the poor enjoy poverty. Rather, that
revolutionary action is not going to lead to the betterment of their
condition in Britain.
