I was reminded at a tangent of the Duckman episode where Duckman Junior
is 'discovered' as the Great New Poet. His agent comes in waving his
latest work. Somebody says 'But is it any GOOD?' 'How should I know,'
says the agent: 'I'm the only one who's read it.'
Interesting that this discussion has gone on during but without overt
reference to the promotion of Birthday Letters as the Greatest Poems of
the Twentieth Century.
Nice sometimes to check who was being promoted and presumably read at
some given date. E.g. 1825: Bernard Barton & L.E.L.
