The first bound copy of MILLENNIUM vol 2 _From Postwar to Millennium_ arrived by
overnight express on my desk this morn -- & right now just back from taking
family to celebration dinner! It should hit the bookstores in April (Poultry
month in the US) & shld be available in the UK at roughly the same time.
Not too many Brits featured in this one either -- but then the enterprise being
global, there was no way to be just and accurate to any given "nationality" --
for any number of reasons any number of countries are not represented -- and we
would have loved to include many more poets from the places we did -- but we
didn't intend a UN anthology. It's really about the poetries JR & I felt were the
most essential new moves in terms of both form & content.
& yes, Faber & Faber asked for astronomical sums for David Jones. In fact all
British publishers (from medium-sized to large; not the small presses) asked for
horrendous sums, compared to the reather reasonable (there are exceptions) US
publishers.
But wow, eight years of work finally drawing to a close -- the book is there --
lovely cover -- a page of Tom Philips' HUMUMENT -- if I may say so myself.
No, I will not do another anthology in the foreseeable future -- it is dangerous
for your health, sanity, friendships & family life.
