The last time I saw Tom Leonard was in Byres Road at the busstop
opposite the Aragon pub (long gone Robin, and the Ruby) from
which we had emerged. He had a carryout and was on his way to
a party and I was catching the bus to the Union where there was
a late bar. It was broad daylight at 10 in the evening in the
summer of 1970. I prefer not to discuss his poetry since then
but am pleased he has made the textbooks.
