- big noises of general agreement with this. And, since Tony is one of the
more omnivorous readers on the list, let's hear it for those who DO manage
to keep their reading practice open, despite all the pressures to - er -
specialise, close out. There've been quite a few postings to the list
recently which have seemed over-eager to pronounce on their personal
values, at the expense of some openness (it seems to me). It's easy enough
to carp at terms like "innovative" - but the more useful exercise, I'd
suggest - since we're on a list "for practitioners of current poetry and
poetics, with emphasis on recent postmodern and innovative poetries" -
would be to engage a little in that process, see what it offers.
Difficult path, perhaps, not for the fainthearted, but with its own
rewards.
