SS's response re the "rogue" somehow slipped into the wrong filter and I
had not therefore read it before sending my last.
I had not heard of "his various (alleged) shenanigans" in detail. SS will
perhaps know better than most whether the cause of the SBC's resistance to
the poets he cites is a result of NJ's actions. Being who I am and where I
am and with the relationship I have had with NJ, I might wish to argue that
to condemn all for the actions of one suggests SBC were seeking an excuse.
But I am pleased to have got SS's reply, because it explains some of the
resentments against NJ that I had previously found incomprehensible. (I
know of others.)
Ric: I really don't think that it is viable to ask us not to talk about
absent friends. Many of them are central to our thoughts about poetry and
the poetry scene. I am quite happy to be irresponsible, but maybe we can
offer NJ and AD print outs of the archive and the opportunity to respond
(if it makes listees who like 'balance' (urgh!) happier).
