|What I'd like to see is readings with Simon
|Armitage and Allen Fisher on the same platform
One would be too many. I really don't think Armitage is up to it. And yes I
have read the books. And heard the radio... He just came up "Aromatise" on
my spell check
|or collaborative work between
|supposedly opposed poets.
but that is a good idea providing there is a real opposition
i have on occasion tried to get that happening at svp but understandably
people like to read with those for whom they have sympathy
|Well, I can dream can't I? I suggested this to
|Andrew Duncan about a year ago and he wanted he know what the point would
|be.
And he isn't up to it
|I guess we're all happier moaning and festering in our respective
|windowless cellars.
Not at all, with the exception of Duncan
It's easy and understandable to fall into the plague on both your houses
position but I don't think it is as you see it
It isn't a matter of forming some kind of Coalition Poetics where we all go
to a feast together and do a dance round the poet laureate
I think your "happier moaning and festering in our respective windowless
cellars" is short of the mark - it's too loaded
what you call moaning is often just realistic
by all means dream... but that you say "well I can dream" suggests that you
do see there is a real problem... I don't think it'll go away though *I can
dream; but I don't see any point in pretending it is otherwise than it is -
I said I
had lost my faith, not my self respect
