If this is true, it is indeed regrettable and short-sighted. (They've
recently turned me down, citing this.) I have always felt strongly that
the great academic presses should seek to publish poetry as part of
their charters, although the links between poetry and knowledge can be
tenuous if not absent :-)
This was an admirable list, and it is sad to see its demise. Perhaps we
can persuade CUP to take up the mantle . . . although here too, poetry
does not form part of the catalogue and there are difficulties with its
siting in the Humanities. I think the last poet CUP published was
Herbert and its first Milton!
