Hi list
Just a word for the true voice of provincial poetry, (I must work out what I
mean by that).
Tonight is the Dead (Good) Poets Society open mike night at The Third Room,
Everyman
Bistro, at the Everyman Theatre, Liverpool. If sober discussion and light
verse is your
thing, don't come. But if passion and scouse humour interests you...8pm.
Also a little advance warning of another gig. Dave Bateman and myself are
reading in the
same venue on Thursday 26th November. Loosely titled "Those Who Can..." This
is not a
description of our authoring powers, rather a sad way of saying that as we
are both
teachers at the University of Liverpool...well finish off the quote for
yourself, you'll find us
lurking at the end.

Here is a poem for me mam.
Bungalow
Me mam wanted a bungalow
two bedrooms
a small lounge
somewhere to be content
So they lodged her in the sky
perched her up on
Glass and steel
Concrete and brick
low cost, low life, high rise habitat
in a towering hell
a urine soaked, turd smeared
block
of stinking crap
She would have preferred a bungalow
