cris mentioned the new West Coast Line: also of interest to some of you
will be the current Open Letter, guest-edited by Jeff Derkson & titled
"Disgust & Overdetermination: A Poetics Issue". The title comes out of
an essay by Sianne Ngai & was spawned by a Jonathan Dollimore lecture at
Harvard, "Sexual Disgust". If anyone waded through the 'huge tracts of
prose' I posted a while back on a performance audience experience at the
KSW they'll have been rewarded by an extraordinary phrase from Deanna
Ferguson - that piece is in this OL too. Derkson says the excluded
third term in the title is contradiction: I'll struggle with this until
something else comes along.
While Keston & Karlien party-on & all that fine stuff goes down on the
Cam, I'll console myself at the KSW listening to Catriona Strang &
Meredith Quartermain. Postultimate drinks on Sat night are on me.
Pete.
