I'm afraid I was misunderstood. I was not seeking to validate the
non-British/US poetry by having it published in the UK. I was more
interested in kicking the UK out of its complacenecy and smug
self-satisfaction, not to mention trashing the inbuilt assumption that
the language is "ours" which therefore confers some kind of inherent
superiority on what we produce. The US is allowed residency in some
quarters, but it doesn't go any further .... at least not often.
It's the Brits that need to be shown what's going on .
