Trade message to Br-Poets members who are also my book customers--
Will those who've ordered the forthcoming Prynne Poems please say whether
they want the cloth edition (£25) or the paperback (£12). Soon please.
While I'm here, persons might like to know of the following recent
publications---
R.F.Langley, Jack. Equipage. £2.50 from me.
This collects all the "Jack" poems most of which post-date the collected.
I've had remarkably few orders for this since it was published. RFL is
typical of the many excellent poets who don't get referred to by Br.-Poets
persons cataloguing their favourites. I wonder if he's in OTHER.
(The "left" poetry scene is full of these wild anomalies-- much talk about
being marginalized, suppressed, neglected.... but a lot of neglect taking
place within the "alternative" arena for which there is no apparent reason
except people can't be bothered reading around, or the Left has its big
boss dictators as much as the Right?...)
I could make a list of about ten worthy poets who are neglected WITHIN and
BY the anti-mainstream zone in which we are said to be operating.
Lisa Jarnot, Heliopolis. Rem Press. £5 from me
Fine collection by the American poet, who read at CCCP in April
Fiona Templeton, Oops the Join. rem press. £7.50
Big collection of short-line poems (not one of her performance texts)
John Forbes, Humidity. Equipage £2.50 f.m.
This also I found stirred less interest than it aughter.
Alice Notley, Byzantine Parables. Poetical Histories 12pp £4.00
Expected daily from the printer. Two sweeping, passionate, long-line
exortations on Biblical material skillfully conveying passion and urgency
by free use of keyboard spirit-error techniques and sheer gumption.
Subscribers will get their copies next week.
This is offered along with the previous issue, 1976 Streets by Michael
Ayres (also £4) at £6.50.
Prices do not include post/packing
Thanks to B-Poets for ad-space.
Send news of new publications. There don't seem to be many around since the
Spring.
