Colin Simms and Harry Gilonis read at SVP last night.
Gilonis read from a wide range of materials including a performance of his
renga which on this occasion he performed with David Reese.
Simms was in good voice and gave an excellent reading although he kept
asking the audience if they hadnt heard enough - which they hadn't. He
started the reading by exhibiting the last remains of 2 martens, the victims
of traps, as an intro to a variety of poems on and around the animals
Gilonis was introduced informally by me and Simms more formally by Gilonis -
I shall post a summary of the one and the text of the other in a little
while
SVP 1998 # 3 features both poets at L1.50 incl post
Next SVP, don't forget, 24th February - Kathleen Fraser & Peter Riley
