Nice to see a few different threads emerging, with none of them the
"authentic" version, and the possibility of any of them being progressed.
Peter's preferred version, with all the lines deleted, and being added to
by others, and then those lines deleted, also exists, of course, so no-one
actually needs to post it. It's a bit strange Robin getting upset at being
edited out of the process he didn't want to continue - rather like wanting
to be invited to the party so that you could stamp foot and refuse to go -
anyway, Robin, your lines are still there in other versions, no need to
sulk about it...
A couple of backchannel enquiries about "anonymity" : I guess it'd be
difficult to be totally anonymous, and as things stand we can always tell
who the most recent adder is (but not, perhaps, which ankle they've
stung). However, as each thread progresses, only the sad git who (a)
remembers each authorial contribution or (b) performs acts of literary
criticism upon the corpses as defined in the archive (and that's really
sad) will be able to name all the perpetrators. I'd say that's about as
anonymous as you can get these days.
I've had - seriously - other requests about the "rules"... Hmm... I guess
that without claiming it as "my" project in anyway I'd say that the only
rules are (a) respond to the text and (b) not more than 2 lines.
Technical point: in most mailers if you make your addition in "forward"
rather than "reply" mode we don't get all those >>> building up down the
left hand margin.
