- Hmm... it's the combined crimes of anthologising with intent AND being
caught in possession of an e-discussion of same that'll get me... But
seriously, no, the reasons for doing it are as good now as ever, and
making the selections - though it obviously involved hard decisions, and
the repercussions of same - was an immensely rewarding opportunity for /
spur to a lot of *close* reading and re-reading of a bulk about five times
what's included. The house is still a major mess with teetery piles of
slim volumes everywhere which are now in no order since they've fallen
over / been moved several times to accomodate the rest-of-life experiences
of the last few years, and the family is, on occasions, decidedly grumpy
about it all. Such are the circumstances of work...
Actually, I think everyone should make their own virtual anthology, and be
prepared to revise it every six months or so - to see how broad their
experience is or isn't, and worry like hell if it isn't changing. There's
certainly more mileage in that exercise than in trying to squeeze an extra
mile out of the poor tired nag called Poetryorprose (by Hauture, out of
Lofty Aspiration). It just isn't an either/or choice.
