I will quote myself:
`If you want to write poetry it must be done with all the heart'.
I am told that Sydney says something similar. I believe that poetry
comes from deep inside (the whole soul was Doug's Coleridge quote
wasnt it) and that you cannot logically determine what you write.
You can logically determine what you want to write and attempt it
(like I did in that `Quixote') but that is no guarantee that there
is any inner life to the words which is so vitally necessary.
I am told that poets are not intellectuals cos of this fundamental
requirement.
Politics also comes from deep down inside and I see no quarrel
between poetry and politics and, at times, they sit happy together.
