With regard to recent interest in text randomisation software -
I have sent a zip file of a program called Batmemes to a couple of list
members. The program (255Kb zipped) has been available for several years
but is not particularly easy to find these days due to dead links etc.
It is available at:
http://www.winsite.com/info/pc/win3/misc/batmemes.zip
It is a 16 bit program for Windows/Windows95. One pastes or types text
into its window and then the text can be randomised completely, or
partialy by highlighting a section. There are three types of randomisation
- Oulipo, Random, and Ogham - which come with the shareware version. The
registered version adds the following:
>> 4 Additional Transmutation types. Offering more unusual derivations
>> of thought and substance.
>> The ability to select more parts of speech, allowing BatMemes to
>> operate on more of your original text.
>> A larger Vocabulary! Two additional WordBanks with approximately 3
>> and 9 times the number of words as the Shareware Version, for
>> exploration of broader semantic landscapes.
I have not registered yet and so i am not able to give an opinion on the
full version. I do use the shareware version and find it fascinating and
occasionally useful.
Regards,
Steve
