Just gathering together the various comments on this subject for a bit
of off line reading. The only confusion I have immediately is that I
thought all poetry was political?
And the notion of truth and poetry . . . deep waters these, whose truth
are we talking about. I mean is Serbian poetry more truthful than
Bosnian. No doubt that some texts gain power from hte convictions of the
author(s). Politics as movements relies upon concensus. It ll remind me
of the strange career of Yevtushenko, in and out of popularity as the
political changes ensued in FSU.
How about apolitical poetry for a change of tack??
