I WILL SHARE THE FINDINGS OF MY MINI SURVEY ON:
THE VALUE OF THE C-STAT QUALIFICATION SHORTLY.
MEANWHILE,
I want to thank all those persons who have contributed to the debate on
"teaching strategies". The responses were interesting. To date (after two
weeks ) 60 members responded either directly to me or to the general
membership.
In general, there was overwhelming support 48(80%) for use of the
constructivist learning theory when designing teaching startegies for
statistical science.
As usual there were the cynics, skeptics, maniacs and arrogant few all of whom
felt that the constructivist supporters are making the science "soft". In
general, this minority felt that they must continue to scare students in
order to gain their respect and show that the subject is "tough".
Further a small percentage of this minority felt that only mathematical
statisticians make a positive contribution to this science.
Thanks again, and please keep this dialogue alive.
