This talk will develop a space-time model for use in modelling the
relationship between radar reflectance and rainfall intensity. The
model is cast as a high-dimensional multivariate time series, in which
the cross-covariance structure is derived from the spatial context of
the component series. The model is shown to give better predictions
than the currently used calibration methods.
Tea break at 4:45 p.m.
HOWARD GRUBB
Seismic surveys are widely used in oil exploration to form images
of rock structures, using reflected sound waves. The process of forming
the images is complex, with several elements of uncertainty. We discuss
these, together with approaches to estimating their effect on the final
images and interpretations made from them.
