LECTURER IN MATHEMATICS (LEVEL B) - (CONTINUING)
DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS

Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer Level B in
the Department of Mathematics.
The successful applicant will be required primarily to teach
statistics and operations research in the Department's
undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and to provide doctoral
and honours supervision in at least one of these areas.
Applicants must have appropriate mathematics teaching experience
at the tertiary level, including a demonstrated ability to teach
large classes. Aptitude or experience in using the World Wide Web
for the enhancement of teaching and learning and a willingness to
take an active role in the Department's flexible delivery
program will be well regarded. The appointee will be
expected to contribute to the research program of the
Department, and to have a proven research record or show
evidence of research potential. The successful applicant will
also be expected to take an active role in general Departmental
operations and to accept a share of administrative
responsibility. Excellent verbal and written communication
skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively
with staff and students, are essential. Applicants should
hold a PhD in a relevant area. The appointment is
continuing, commencing January, 1999.
Salary will be in the range $48,327 - $57,388 per annum (from 1
December 1998).
