1st CALL FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS
IRISS-C/I - an Integrated Research Infrastructure in the Socio-Economic
Sciences at CEPS/INSTEAD Luxembourg funded by the TMR programme of the
European Commission .
The Directorate General XII of the European Commission has selected
CEPS/INSTEAD Luxembourg for support under the TMR Programme Access to
Large Scale Facilities. A Large Scale Facility is considered to be an
excellent or unique research facility in Europe providing world-class
service essential for top quality research, with relatively high
investment/operating costs, providing adequate scientific, technical and
logistic support to external users.
In the frame of the IRISS-C/I programme, CEPS/INSTEAD invites interested
researchers (doctoral candidates and beyond) to submit individual or
common research proposals until August 15, 1998 - within the field of
Labour Markets, Employment - Unemployment
or within any of the following fields:
- panel/survey methodology, - income dynamics, - persistent and new
poverty, - child well-being/poverty, child care, - intergenerational
relations, - effects of family policies, social protection and
redistributive policies, - family structures and change, - family and
household budgets, - geographical and social mobility, - gender, ethnic
and social inequality, - education and training, continued education, -
regional development and structural change.
The programme - IRISS-C/I - allows to host researchers from the European
Union and Associated States to develop individual or common research
projects at the Centre's databases (period of stay: 2 weeks - 3 months,
according to proposals). The Commission funding will cover travel
reimbursement, overnight stay and daily allowances to the candidates,
office equipment, individual PC's with Internet facilities, and up to a
certain degree, communication costs, photocopies and consumables, as
well as free access to CEPS/INSTEAD's international databases -
Household Panel Comparability Project (PACO), Luxembourg Income Study
(LIS), Luxembourg Employment Study (LES).
Applications should deal with comparative-microdata-analysis concerning
individuals and households or firms. Consequently, preference will be
given to projects which ° focus on dynamic analyses based on
longitudinal data, and ° contribute to the advancement of comparability.
IRISS-C/I wants to promote problem-oriented socio-economic analysis
based on international/comparative micro-data, relevant both to Society
and Economy. It aims at bringing together individual researchers from
different countries and disciplines in an informed socio-economic
research environment.
More information about IRISS-C/I and the first call can be found on the
