LECTURER IN PROBABILITY/MATHEMATICS OF
OPERATIONS RESEARCH (Ref. C013A)
TEMPORARY LECTURER IN STATISTICS (TWO YEARS) (Ref. C014A)
The Department has a strong research profile with 13 academic staff led by
Professors Kevin Glazebrook (Applied Probability), Murray Aitkin
(Statistics) and John Matthews (Medical Statistics). There are currently
four research associates and 18 research students in addition to staff
working in the Department's Statistical Consultancy Service.
The appointee to the permanent post will have strong research potential and
a record of publication in an area of Applied Probability, Probability
Theory or the Mathematics of Operations Research.
The temporary position is for two years in the first instance, but will be
reviewed after 12 months with a view to possible extension. The appointee
will be expected to engage in research in some branch of Statistics.
The Department is committed to a high quality teaching programme at both
undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Candidates will be expected to
demonstrate an ability to contribute succesfully to this.

Salary will be Lecturer A-B (£16,655 - £29,048)
