I felt it was rather sad when Bayesian statistics has for some time been
ridding itself of the idiot fundamentalist image and concentrating on
practical demonstrations of usefulness that this sort of nonsense should
be given space in a moderately respectable newspaper. Far better to have
written a sensible piece on the inescapability of false results in
science - whatever your preferred mode of inference - a matter of great
relevance which is ignored every time we have a scare story about
misdiagnosis.
