UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE
CENTRE FOR PROCESS ANALYSIS, CHEMOMETRICS AND CONTROL
PhD Research Studentships and Research Associate Positions
Dynamic Multivariate Statistical Process Control
and Process Feature Detection
Applications are invited for 2 PhD Studentships in the area of dynamic
multivariate statistical process performance monitoring and whole-plant
monitoring, funded by the EPSRC and EU ESPRIT projects.
Applications are also invited for an 18 month Research Associate position
in the area of 'Modelling and Feature Extraction from Complex Data for
Improved Bioprocess Understanding and Supervision'; a 36 month RA position
and a 24 month RA position in the areas of dynamic multivariate statistical
process control.
The research will be carried out in the Centre for Process Analysis,
Chemometrics and Control (CPACC). CPACC comprises 3 academic staff, 6 Post
Doctoral researchers and 11 PhD students. CPACC has its own research
accommodation with a dedicated NT workstation network and students have
access to all the most recent software.
The studentships are linked into UCB Films and MDC Technology. Successful
applicants will gain valuable practical experience as well as seeing their
research ideas tested and validated in an industrial environment. A
consequence of this is that successful applicants will be paid at a higher
rate than that defined by the Research Councils.
Applicants should have, or expect to gain at least an upper second class
honours degree in an Engineering discipline, Chemistry, Physics,
Mathematics or Statistics.
