We are in the pilot phase of introducing a new student ID/Smart card with
integral library and cashless vending facilities.
An ongoing internal debate is considering whether the card needs to
visibly indicate validity for the current academic year (the proposal is
for the card to have a life expectancy of 3 years).
Can I call on other institutions experience please. In particular;
1)Do current smart cards carry a visible expiry date?
2)Are cards issued for a single academic year and renewed annually?
3)Are cards embossed in some way to indicate validity for the current
session?
4)Do cards carry any other indication of validity for the current
session?.
