Dear all
Brunel withholds awards to any students in debt to the University. This is
written into the University regulations and there is no question of a change
being made. However, the practice which is currently under discussion, is the
award date that should be used (whether on the student record or the
certificate) when the student does clear the debt.
The practice here has been to use the date the debt was cleared, as this is the
first possible date that the award recommendation could be confirmed. We have
been asked to review this policy and it would be helpful to know how colleagues
deal with this matter.
If your institution does withhold awards to those in debt, what date is used
for the award when it is finally confirmed/conferred? I have used "award date"
rather than "certificate date" in case your institution uses a ceremony date on
certificates.
I am happy to collate responses if anyone else would be interested in the
replies.
Many thanks in advance - and Happy Xmas!
Liz
