Development Team Leader (Student Information Systems), ref B/275
Following the promotion of a member of staff, the University is now seeking a Development Team
Leader who will head a team, working in very close partnership with users at all levels. Core
technical skills are vital, including those of systems analysis, specification, and hands-on
development of large systems using 4GL relational databases. The successful candidate will have
the ability to lead and motivate a team, and work in proactive partnership with colleagues and end-
users in a challenging environment of changing academic and administrative needs. Previous
experience of student-related applications is beneficial but not essential. Cross-training to Ingres
4GL or other specific areas can be provided if required. MICS are responsible for the Unix based
Ingres database systems that provide the foundation for the main Administrative functions. The
Student Information Systems team are responsible for applications spanning admissions,
registration, fee billing, assessment and graduation, with systems in place to meet the University’s
needs for official statistical returns. In addition new systems are being developed to support areas
such as timetabling and room bookings and provision of comprehensive management information.
Salary is in the range £23,691 - £27,985.
