I think you've summed up how many of us feel. I feel the transformation
from competent professional to numpty in the space of a few months. I have
around a hundred queries from parents which I have promised (to them) to
try to answer, but I just don't feel I have the detailed info necessary.
I know its not a direct reply to your question, but the COSHEP Technical
Advisory GRoup has said "Students on paid placement or working abroad.
From 1999/2000, there will be no eligibility for maintenance loans for
students away for a full year on paid placements or as paid foreign
language assistants, although they may be eligible for the new hardship
loan of £250.'
However, my impression was that students would have to apply for a S/L,
before becoming eligible for the extra hardship loan.....so they're going
to have to apply for something they're not going to get, before applying
for something which is a) buttons and b) will probably have run out.......
Mad Hatters Tea pParty or what?
