Val,
Yes-at Queen's travel and accomodation for external examiners
is arranged through local travel agents (a choice of 3) contracted by Queen's.
Travel is booked by an appointed coordinator within each academic area. This
involves filling in a questionnaire; departure times, routes and accomodation
requirements are indicated and sent to the travel agent.
The travel agent assesses the information and recommends travel arrangements
to the coordinator. If the coordinator and external examiner are satisfied the agent
proceeds. If not arrangements are modified between the three parties.
We supply two lists of recommended accomodation; list 'A' for economical reasons
; list B only if accomodation is not available in 'A'. Approval must be sought if selecting
from list 'B'.
The travel agent invoices the University periodically (every 4 weeks).
I hope this helps.
