Has anyone experienced problems with Annex A of the HEFCE letter
"Verification of data for funding purposes for the academic year
1999-2000"?
Institutions are expected to explain the reasons for alleged
discrepancies in the HESES98 data compared with HESES97, but we have
encountered one mistake made by HEFCE in interpreting our HESES97
data, and there are possibly more (currently being investigated by
our HEFCE Adviser).
The problems relate to the 1997/98 column of the part-time
load factors table and the part-time 1997-98 column of the HESES
assumed countable years (Col 4), Home & EC fundable table.
Our HEFCE Adviser has told me not to worry too much about the
23/12/98 deadline, because of the mistakes made by HEFCE. I would
advise all institutions to check carefully the HEFCE interpretation
of the HESES97 data, and clarify with their HEFCE contacts exactly
what they are being asked to explain in Annex A.
Oh yes, and a very merry Christmas to everyone!!
