Thanks to all who have responded about public interest and resource
management issues.
Now for the next bit. As I look at the differences between foresters and
biologists and conflicts that can arise between the two sets of
professionals, I am willing to put out for discussion that the primary
reason for the differences is that forestry is most oftened managed from an
anthropocentric perspective while the biology is biocentrically based. This
results in the two sets of professionals looking at the same situation
through different filters and thus analyzing the info differently.
If this is in fact true, how do we set about creating an atmosphere for the
two groups to work together so that the public is given sufficient
information to formulate an informed opinion about the very things that we
consult them on, and whose input weighs so heavily in the minds of the
politicials who set the goals by which natural resources are managed?
