I'm looking for information and would appreciate any help -
I am writing an article on retention schedules for the Business Archives
Council Journal Principles and Practice. Part of the focus will be on
sources that archivists and records managers can use when drawing up
schedules. In particular I will be looking at:
1) Statutory requirements, regulations and standards - too many to list,
and often too industry specific. But what are the main ones that everyone
should be aware of? Where can we find out about these?
2) Books articles pamphlets etc e.g. ICSA guide, I know about Keith
Batchelor's recent article in RMJ
3) Groups who can give advice / mutual support
4) Web pages
5) Generic or model schedules - I will be looking at the pros and cons and
appreciate that schedules cannot and should not be passed around from
business to business but are there any, for example higher education
schedules, that are used as models? I know about the RMG publications.
Some of you have already answered these questions, for which I am extremely
grateful, and I already have a lot of information. If I have not already
contacted you directly and you have any points to raise on any of the
above, I'd be very grateful if you could get in touch.
Thank you in advance
