Could the following vacancy notice be brought to the attention of suitably

ARCHIVES MANAGER (COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT)
BT needs little introduction as one of the world's leading suppliers of
fixed and mobile communications services. At the forefront of the
development of telecommunications solutions and technologies of the future,
BT is nevertheless proud of its history as the direct successor to the first
UK telecommunications company created in 1846.
BT is committed to the preservation of the documentary heritage which
reflects its development, and has recently provided purpose adapted
accommodation for its archival collections. We are now seeking to appoint an
additional qualified archivist in the BT Archives to improve access to this
important body of records, which are recognised as being of national
significance.
This is a new position which offers an exciting opportunity to help manage
the archives of a major commercial organisation. Working to the Group
Archivist as part of a dedicated team, you will play a lead role in all
aspects of managing our collections, including appraisal, cataloguing,
conservation planning and disaster recovery procedures.
You must have the relevant archives qualifications, and several years'
experience in sorting and cataloguing large archival collections, ideally in
a major organisation. Experience in the use of automated archival databases,
and familiarity with current professional practice and standards are
essential. Excellent communication and organisational skills are also
required. Experience of managing electronic records and an interest in
telecommunications history are desirable.
To apply for this rare opportunity, please send full CV and a covering
letter including salary details to David Hay, BT Group Archivist, Holborn
