It seems curious that the enormous amount of response data being collected
from various pavement trials (not only LTPP) is stored unthinkingly without
any attempt to simplify it, thereby giving researchers a major headache in
sifting out the useful information whilst the loading information will be
digested completely into ESALs. On the one hand far too much data is being
collected without any consideration of the purpose to which it may be used
and on the other too little is being retained so that sensible linkage of
load and response cannot be made.
