The Sixth Annual Network Conference of
Investors in People in Higher Education
Madingley Hall, University of Cambridge
25th - 26th May, 1999
Background
This programme, Investors in People in Higher Education, has been
running successfully for many years. It was initially designed to
familiarise colleagues working in UK higher education staff and
educational development with Investors in People. Given the increasing
uptake and involvement of the sector over the past two years
especially, this programme has also evolved and is now targeted at
practitioners within the sector who are already working with the
Standard in some way. This year, 1998, has seen the gradual
establishment of a strategic framework for Investors in People in
higher education comprising a strategic group of Vice-Chancellors and
Principals, and Practitioner Groups for Scotland and England and
Wales.
The Investors in People Practitioners’ Group (England and Wales) has
contributed directly to the formulation of the programme and views
have been taken from the Scottish Group and Vice-Chancellors and
Principals. (The seventh conference will be held in Scotland in
spring/early summer 2000.)
Aim
The aim of the conference is to bring together practitioners from a
variety of higher education institutions at various stages of the
process (just starting off, working through action plans, preparing
for assessment, recognised, preparing for re-assessment) to look at
current practice and experiences and to learn more of recent related
developments sectorally and from Investors in People UK.
Target Participants
The conference is aimed at those colleagues in staff and educational
development/ HR/personnel who are currently working with Investors in
People in their institutions and/or departments. (For those colleagues
who are new to Investors in People in higher education there is
another programme offered by UCoSDA ‘Investors in People in Higher
Education: Developing the Role of the Internal
Consultant/Facilitator’.)
