Dear Colleagues,
John Beech, one of the lecturers here at Coventry University, is
seeking a good home for his late father's collection of books.
John's father, Thomas Hugh Beech, graduatd from Cambridge in 1938, he
worked for Marconi from 1938 to 1940, Admiralty Signal and Radar
Establishment 1940 to 1956 before changing career to spend the rest of
his working life as an actuary. He was a Founder Member of the Company
of Actuaries and a Freeman of the City of London.
There are approximately 150 books, mainly statistical and actuarial
subjects, dating mainly from the 1950's and 1960's although there are
earlier and later books too. John is keen that the collection go to an
academic or similar library and that, if possible, the collection be
kept largely intact.
If anyone is interested could they please contact John direct, his
email is [log in to unmask], alternatively I'll be happy to
forward any message. If it helps, I do have a partial listing of the
titles (not to any great bibliographic standard you understand!) which I
can let people have either as a printed list or attached file (it's in
Word)
Thanks, Steve Griffiths
