Dear Colleagues,

To celebrate the official launch of the North of England Institute for Health Informatics (NoEIHI) on
9th September, a one day workshop has been put together by the partners in the NoEIHI.
The aim is to share views on current issues in Health Informatics and identify areas for
potential collaboration. 

Anyone from your organisation who is interested in Health Informatics is invited, but if the meeting is oversubscribed numbers will have to be
restricted to people from the partner organisations involved in NoEIHI.  

The launch workshop is a satellite meeting alongside an R&D conference at Hope Hospital at
which Frank Dobson will be speaking about current issues in the NHS.  As part of his visit
to Hope he is launching the website of the NoE IHI.  I shall be in touch shortly with
information about its URL.  I have also been invited to speak at the R&D Conference to an
invited audience of senior individuals for the NHS, industry, local government and academia.
 I plan to outline the makeup and objectives of the NoE IHI and its role in the UK
Institute.  This will be an ideal opportunity to further raise the profile of this exciting
initiative.   Delegates at our launch workshop will be able to hear Frank Dobson and myself
speak, via video link, at a satellite venue on the Hope Hospital site.
