SPATIAL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
The Soil Survey and Land Research Centre (SSLRC) is an independent research
and consultancy organisation with a strong and growing reputation on the
interaction between soils, climate, land use and water resources.
As a member of SSLRC's Geographical Systems Group, you will be part of a
team responsible for managing and administering the Land Information System
(LandIS). This will entail:
· assisting the Database Administrator with the management and day-to-day
running of the database using a range of Oracle software tools in both a
UNIX and PC environments;
· the design and development of user interfaces for accessing data using
Oracle Developer 2000 tools;
· the development of access mechanisms over the World Wide Web;
· if appropriate, taking responsibility for the management of our spatial
data utilising ESRI's Spatial Database Engine.
You will have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, 1-2 years'
demonstrable experience with database technologies, possess good
programming and interpersonal skills, and enjoy working in a team
environment. You will have a keen interest in spatial database
technologies relating to the field of soil and geological data analysis.
Starting salary will be on Research and Analogous 1A scale:
£16,000-£18,500
