Dear All,

As it was a bit parky in the UK last weekend, I thought I'd take this 
opportunity to remind you of the call for papers for next year's
ESEM econometrics meeting in slightly warmer climes.

 EEA99        The next European Meeting of  the Econometric Society will be
              held in  Santiago de  Compostela, August  29 to  September 1,
 Search       1999. Registration  will  begin on  the evening  of Saturday,
 ESEM/EEA     August 28. It will be immediately followed by the Congress of
 site         the  European  Economic  Association,  which  will  run  from
              September 1 to September 4.

 links        Economists, including those who  are not currently members of
              the Econometric  Society,  are invited  to submit  papers for

              Submission of  papers: Two copies  of a  paper, together with
              three copies  of  an abstract,  prepared as  described below,
              should be  sent to  the appropriate  Program Co-Chair  at the
              corresponding address  given above.  Submissions will  not be
              considered  if received  after  March  15,  1999,  so authors
              should  allow for  potential  delays  in  international mail.
              Submissions by  fax  or  email will  not be  accepted.  It is
              expected that  decisions on submissions  will be  made by May
              15, 1999. No financial aid will be available.

              Jointly-authored papers:  Jointly-authored  papers  should be
              submitted by the person who  will present the paper, if it is
              accepted. Please  note that  each participant  may present at
              most one paper.

              Preparation of abstracts

              There  will  be  no  printed  abstract  form.  The  following
              information should  be supplied on  a single  sheet of paper:

                i. Conference name: ESEM99
               ii. Name(s) of the author(s), with the surname of the paper
                   presenter in CAPITALS
              iii. Title of paper
               iv. Institutional affiliation of the paper presenter and
                   complete mailing address
                v. Email address of paper presenter
               vi. Abstract of paper of no more than 100 words containing
                   no symbols, references, or equations
              vii. Up to six key words.

              At the  same  time as  a submission  is  made to  the Program
              Chairman, a  duplicate  abstract  should be  supplied  to the
              Local  Arrangements  Committee (*) .  To  send  the  abstract
              duplicate you should   use our form, linked  also in the left
              margin of our pages.  Alternatively, you could use one of the
              following methods to  send the  abstract duplicate: either by
              email (Email:  [log in to unmask], subject:  'Abstract to ESEM99')
              or on  a floppy  disk in a  DOS format  (Microsoft Word, Word
              Perfect, or  as  an ASCII  text file)  accompanied by  a hard
              copy. (Floppies cannot be  returned.) The mailing address is:
